What You'll Do
Use Suno, an AI music generator, to create an original song. You'll give it a purpose, write a simple prompt, and generate a song you can actually listen to and share.
1Go to Suno
Go to https://suno.com
You'll need to create a free account (you can sign in with Google, Discord, or email).
Free accounts get 50 credits per day, which is enough to generate several songs.
2Decide on a purpose for your song
Having a specific goal makes this easier and more fun. Ideas:
- A birthday song for someone you know
- A theme song for a hobby or interest
- A jingle for an imaginary (or real!) small business
- A song about your town, your pet, or a funny life situation
- A parody of a song style you like
- A song that captures a specific mood or memory
3Write a simple prompt
Suno works best when you give it:
- The topic or story (what the song is about)
- The style or genre (folk, pop, country, jazz, rock, etc.)
- The mood (upbeat, nostalgic, funny, dramatic, etc.)
Simple approach
Prompt - Copy and paste this:
A cheerful country song about my golden retriever who loves to swim in the lake
More specific
Prompt - Copy and paste this:
An upbeat folk song celebrating the town of [your town name], mentioning local landmarks and the sense of community here. Warm and nostalgic tone.
For a specific person/occasion
Prompt - Copy and paste this:
A funny birthday song for my friend Sarah who loves hiking and hates mornings. Acoustic guitar, playful lyrics.
For a business or project
Prompt - Copy and paste this:
A catchy 30-second jingle for a small bakery called "Rise & Shine." Upbeat, friendly, easy to remember.
5Generate your song
Click "Create" on the Suno homepage, paste your prompt in the description box, and click "Create" again. Wait 30-60 seconds — Suno will generate TWO versions of your song. Listen to both!
6Iterate if you want
If you don't like the results, try tweaking your prompt:
- Change the genre or mood
- Add more detail about what you want the lyrics to say
- Specify instruments (e.g., "acoustic guitar and harmonica")
- Generate again and compare
7Share your song (optional)
Each song has a share link you can send to friends or save for yourself. You can also download the audio file if you want to keep it.
Tips for Better Results
- •Be specific about genre and mood — vague prompts get vague results
- •If the lyrics aren't quite right, try adding more detail about the story or message you want
- •Suno sometimes adds unexpected creative touches — embrace them!
- •You can regenerate as many times as you want (within your daily credit limit)

General Tips for All Tasks
Getting Unstuck:
- •If the AI tool isn't loading, try refreshing the page or switching browsers
